GMT Secures Settlement for Plaintiffs in Medical Malpractice Case
GMT recently concluded a medical malpractice action on behalf of plaintiffs against Medalia Health Care LLC and two Seattle physicians alleging failure to diagnose cancer. The decedent died of leukemia in Maui, nine days after visiting his doctor in Seattle and being diagnosed with viral gastroenteritis. Liability aside, the most prominent issue in the case was the decedent’s “loss of chance.” The plaintiffs contended that his likelihood of survival with chemotherapy/bone marrow transplant was 19-20 percent; the defendants contended it was 6-10 percent. The case settled for $540,000 and was handled by Jeff Tilden.
