Arbitrator Paves Way for Holding Franchisee Personally Liable
GMT represents Expressions in Fabric, Inc., a nationwide retailer
of high-quality custom furniture, in an arbitration against a former
Washington franchisee. Frank Cordell and Johanna Bender recently obtained
a ruling that Expressions is entitled to seek specific performance
of the franchise agreement against the individual franchisee. The
July 29 decision will pave the way for holding the franchisee personally
liable for substantial debts to Expressions. The matter is set for
hearing in November 2003.
