Gordon Tilden Thomas & Cordell LLP is a trial practice firm engaging only in litigation and litigation-oriented advice. The firm represents individuals and Northwest, national, and international businesses in a broad range of complex litigation. Our practice emphasizes general commercial and contract disputes, insurance coverage issues, business ownership and governance disputes, professional liability, product liability, personal injury litigation on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants, intellectual property, real estate issues, employment disputes, and environmental liability. Our lawyers have extensive experience in the management and trial of complex civil litigation throughout the state and federal courts of the State of Washington as well as in many other jurisdictions.

The Firm limits its practice to civil litigation. From the outset, we decided that we could not and would not attempt to be all things to all people. Rather, we take advantage of our experience as trial lawyers and extend our professional services, on a matter-by-matter basis, to those clients engaged or soon to be engaged in active litigation.

Prior to forming the firm in 1996, our founding lawyers practiced at two of the country’s premier large firms, Perkins Coie and Covington & Burling. We are not a traditional “pyramid”-structured firm-instead, the core of our firm is made up of experienced litigators who can work efficiently from the outset of each case. As a result, GTT&C’s clients never pay for what amounts to the training of junior lawyers.

The Firm was formed on the premise that we could take advantage of current technology, lower our overhead and reduce hourly rates to the benefit of our clients, while, at the same time, continuing to provide the best legal representation available-regardless of the size of firm. We believe that we have succeeded in forming a smaller, more personable, and more agile law firm composed of experienced lawyers and staff committed to achieving our clients’ litigation goals in an aggressive-but efficient-manner. As a result, we are able to offer a rare combination of experienced lawyers and extremely competitive rates.

Partnering With Our Clients
The bulk of our matters are undertaken on a traditional hourly rate basis-in many cases, we believe, and our clients agree, that hourly billing at our competitive rates in the end provides the best value. Our size and non-traditional structure, however, permit us to consider a broad range of alternative fee arrangements, including task-based fees and discounts linked with performance incentives. Further, we have adopted common-sense policies concerning disbursements, reflecting our view that the Firm’s business is providing first-rate legal representation, not turning disbursements into a profit center.

Flexible Solutions
GTT&C’s lawyers pride themselves on being skilled and experienced litigators-we believe in our court system and feel that, in some cases, there is no substitute for a trial and judgment. However, we recognize that our role is conceiving and implementing cost-effective strategies for resolving disputes, whether through trial, creative approaches to settlement, or use of alternative dispute resolution.
