GTTC is sad to announce that one of its founding partners, Charles “Chuck” Gordon, passed away on September 8, 2023.
Chuck was one of the firm’s three founding partners in 1996. For more than 45 years, he focused his practice on complex commercial disputes, insurance recovery, and personal injury litigation, trying more than 50 cases to verdict. Chuck was a fellow in the highly selective American College of Trial Lawyers, where he served as chair of the Washington chapter. He also was a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, a national association with membership limited to experienced trial lawyers and judges. Chuck was consistently recognized by Best Lawyers and multiple Washington publications as a top litigator. In 2000 the National Law Journal named him one of the “Top-Ten” Trial Lawyers in Washington.
Before founding GTTC, Chuck was a successful trial lawyer with Seattle’s Perkins Coie for 25 years, where he served on the firm’s Executive Committee and as chair of its litigation practice. Upon graduation from the University of Washington School of Law, he served two years as a U.S. Army Trial Counsel, including service in Vietnam.
While Chuck’s list of professional accomplishments is long and illustrious, his fundamental decency, humility, good humor, and kindness made an equally significant mark. His personal integrity was unimpeachable. When confronted with a particularly challenging issue, those who practiced with him often ask themselves, “what would Chuck do?” Chuck was a treasured colleague, leader, role model, and friend. He will be dearly missed.
